They say ‘realty and women don’t go hand in hand’... Well, wait till you meet Rita V Dixit, executive director, Jaypee Greens, who is busy creating waves in the realty segment!
When you talk property and real estate, you don’t talk about women... At least that’s what the perception is! Normally one would doubt as to how can the fair sex deal with the rigours of the hard hitting, male-dominated industry? Well, the times have changed and one can see more and more ladies coming in and shattering that myth. Rita V Dixit happens to be one such woman. Executive Director of Jaypee Greens, a golf-centric real estate development project of Jaypee Greens Ltd. a unit of Jai Prakash Associates Ltd, Dixit has established this first of its kind golf resort at Greater Noida. With the construction majors in an effort to get ahead in the realty arena, shelling out luxury residential units one after another, Jaypee Greens claims to have taken the first step to come up with a residential place within the boundaries of a golf course.
Real estate and property is not known to be a woman’s field. Being a woman, was it too hard to be break into a male bastion?
Well, since I am one of the family, I guess it wasn’t much of a problem. But once in that position of responsibility, it is up to you to be able to maintain that. And, being a woman, all eyes are on you. I got full support from everyone from my father, my husband. Personally, I feel that I have a long way to go.
Coming back to work, given the political instability and the crime rate in the state of UP, wasn’t it too risky a proposition to set base of such an ambitious plan at Greater Noida?
Not at all! Greater Noida is coming up as a great destination for both commercial and residential purposes. Gurgaon may not have yet reached its saturation point but when you look at other options, it’s Greater Noida you straightaway think of. Also, it has great connectivity with Delhi. It is the only city in North India to have an uninterrupted power supply and privatised power distribution. That is an advantage it has. With the Commonwealth Games 2010 approaching, the area has become of utmost importance. So for us, it made all sense to come to Greater Noida.
Along with Greater Noida, other areas are coming up as well. Is Jaypee Greens looking at them apart from Greater Noida for its real estate developments?
Definitely. Delhi is developing in all directions. Hence, you see the National Capital Region developing by leaps and bounds. It is too early to talk about our future ventures but there are some projects in the offing.
Every other day we hear of some new developers having entered the realty scene. What does this buoyancy mean for the real estate industry?
Like I said, Delhi is poised for a growth in all directions in terms of real estate. So, there is a huge potential for the real estate firms to cash in on the trend. And, it is not just the capital, there are many other cities that the developers are, and should be, looking at. Not everybody is targeting the upmarket crowd. India has a massive middle class population. We have a good customer base there as well. There are Tier II and Tier III cities waiting to be developed further.
