“Big Easy” as Ernie Els is popularly known on the International pro golf circuit was a visitor to the Jaypee Greens golf course on the 24th April.
On a brief visit to India after playing at the China Open on the 22nd & 23rd April, Erie Els was a guest of Nicholas Piramal India.
Currently ranked #5 in the world, this well-known South African golfer holds the record of 665 weeks in the top 10 in the world ranking. With more than $2.3 million prize money earned on the PGA Tour in 2006, Ernie Els has been one of the most successful golfers internationally, having won over 60 professional tournaments in the last 15 years, including two US Opens, a British Open and a record six World Match play titles.
Ernie Els had come to India to launch his signature wine brand. He was accompanied by Nicholas Piramal India’s Director (Corporate Affairs) Harinder S Sikka. An exclusive luncheon was served to them at our clubhouse, post which a tour of the golf course was organized for him.
“Jaypee Greens golf course has an interesting layout. The bunkers and the water bodies are strategically placed making the course pretty tricky to play on”, says Ernie Els. He also added, “I am pleasantly surprised to see that Jaypee Greens golf course is so well-maintained and the greens here are so lustrous even in such extreme temperature”.
After spending close to about three hours with us, Ernie Els visit to Jaypee Greens ended with a promise to come back sometime in October-November again this year and play a complete round of golf at Jaypee Greens.
